Tampa Bay native Benjamin Booker was one of the new breed of bluesmen in the new millennium, one who drew equally from post-
war electric blues, trashy garage punk, and a bit of classic rock -- one who was influenced by the rise of the White Stripes and the
music that inspired that seminal Detroit duo. This much was evident from his eponymous debut, released on ATO Records in August
of 2014. He recorded the effort with producer Andrija Tokic, who helmed the debut by kindred spirits Alabama Shakes, and
promoted its release with several performances in the summer of 2014, including a jam session with Jack White that seemed a bit
like a passing of the torch.
