The band's early music is reminiscent of artists such as The Cure and The Smiths, but the band would experiment with jazz, bossa nova, and even R&B sounds before arriving at their present alternative rock style in the mid-late nineties. Evocative of acts such as Pixies, Weezer, and early Radiohead, the pillows have enjoyed a long and rewarding - if not necessarily widely recognized - career. The band gained a considerable audience overseas when their music was featured in the anime series Fooly Cooly, and now regularly tours outside of Japan. « hide |
