Toronto modern hard rock quintet Evans Blue came together around 2003 after its members found each other by chancethrougha local musician'smessage board. Comprised of vocalist Matisyn, guitarists Parker Lauzon and Vlad Tanaskovic, bassistJoe Pitter,and drummer Darryl Brown, the groupsigned with Pocket Recordings in 2005, entering Pocket Studios with TrevorKustiak (Coolfor August) soon after. The result was their debut, TheMelody and the Energetic Nature of Volume, jointlyreleased in February2006 by Pocket and Hollywood Records. In July 2007 the band's second album, The Pursuit BeginsWhen ThisPortrayal of Life Ends, hitshelves.Since then, vocalist Kevin Matisyn was voted out of the band due to creative differences and replaced with anewsinger/songwriter Dan Chandlerafter an extensive six-month nationwide search. Also, before Matisyns departure, thebanddropped their label Hollywood records.
