In 1999, they released the concept album So... How's Your Girl?, which was loosely based on an episode of the Chris Elliott sitcom Get a Life entitled “The Prettiest Week of My Life.” In the album, Dan and Paul assume the characters of Nathaniel Merriweather and Chest Rockwell, respectively. A variety of musicians, including Encore, J-live, Sean Lennon, Josh Haden, Cibo Matto’s Miho Hatori, Moloko’s Roisin Murphy and Del tha Funkee Homosapien, make guest appearances. The comic character Father Guido Sarducci is also included.
Their second album, White People, which was released in November 2004, also has many guest appearances. Some of the collaborators from the first album show up again, in addition to RZA, Chan Marshall (Cat Power), Jack Johnson, Mike Patton, Pharrell Williams, Linkin Park, Cedric Bixler Zavala, Alex Kapranos (from Franz Ferdinand), Barrington Levy, and comedian / actor Tim Meadows.
In 2006, Prince Paul announced his retirement from Handsome Boy Modeling School due to business conflicts with Dan the Automator
