released of hit after hit in their heyday with such blockbuster songs as 'Call Me', 'Heart of Glass' and 'Atomic'. Their delve into hip-hop with 'Rapture', which was at the time a nascent and niche genre, helped bring hip-hop to the mainstream white audience, though the rapped verse was embarrasing to say the least and doesn't deserve much credit in popularising rap music. The group disbanded at the height of their success in 1982, over inner-band turmoil. The group reformed, with a few of the original members including Debbie Harry. They have released two studio albums since their reformation, 1999's No Exit and 2003's the Curse of Blondie.
In 2006, the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. « hide |
