AdaKaiN is a four-piece metal band from Dallas, Texas that formed in 2006, but began gaining actual recognition in early 2007. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Kenny Poovey, guitarists Derrick Carter and Matt Woods (former Element Eighty), bassist Jason Schauer and drummer Ryan Carroll (also former Element Eighty). In September 2007, AdaKaiN released their first EP Tears of Dysphoria. The symbolic reference to the title of the EP refers to their outlook on not only what has happened to the music industry today, but also the chaotic surrealism that plagues the minds of society. The E.P. was recorded with award winning and well-established producer Eric Delegard at Reeltime Audio in Denton, Texas. After the release of their EP, singer Kenny Poovey left the band and was replaced by Travis Buck. AdaKaiN's debut full-length, Together in the Heart was recorded in July, with Delegard once again behind the mixing board, and self-released on October 31. For this album the quintet started with the blueprint established on Tears of Dysphoria but this time delved deeper emotionally and musically. After the release of Together in the Heart, Matt Woods left the band. The first two albums were predominantly written by Matt Woods and Ryan Carroll, two of the original bandmates from Tyler, Texas metal quartet Element Eighty. As e80 reached the end of their career, Matt and Ryan sought other outlets for writing music and formed AdaKaiN as a result. Thus, the early two albums bear a striking resemblance to parts of e80's catalog. A new era for the band would be marked by the departure of vocalist Travis Buck and the addition of singer/guitarist Ryan Ray in 2012. The band released one more full-length album in 2015 titled Never Coming Home and continue playing in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan region. Drummer Ryan Carroll, the last remaining original member, has since left the band. « hide
