Box Car Racer was started by Blink 182's Tom Delonge and Travis Barker. Tom started writer darker music that he knew wouldn't work for Blink 182, so he started a side band called Box Car Racer. The band is similar to Blink, but much more romantic and dark. Their music is a mixture of punk, rock, and pop punk. They have moved on from their Blink 182 and started a somewhat better band. Just remember it's Box Car Racer.
