Born in August of 1989, Jessica Mauboy is an indigenous Australian pop singer who rose to prominence when she was the runner-up on the 4th season of Australian Idol in 2006. In December of that year, it was announced that Sony BMG had signed her up to a recording contract and she released ‘The Journey’, a live album containing her Idol performances, in February of 2007. However, after less than a year in the group, Mauboy quit the Young Divas to concentrate on her solo debut LP of original recordings.
Eventually titled ‘Been Waiting’, the album was released in November of 2008 and immediately went Top 20 on the Australian album charts. Charting better and reaching the Top 10 were lead singles ‘Running Back’ (which featured American rapper Flo Rida) and ‘Burn’. The album will be released in Japan during April of 2009 and reports have emerged that it will also be getting released in both the U.S and U.K in the final quarter of the year. « hide |
