Hot Action Cop is an American band from Nashville, Tennessee. They have always had a unique style, starting off merging nu-
metal and funk rock with rapped verses, developing a more serious sound in their current years more along the lines of
alternative, always retaining their affinity for funky riffs, powerful solos and diverse vocals.
The group released their self-titled debut album on Lava/Atlantic Records in March 2003. Rob Werthner

The group released their self-titled debut album on Lava/Atlantic Records in March 2003. Rob Werthner
(vocalist/rhythmguitarist/songwriter/frontman) formed the band back in the 1990s with bassist Luis Espaillat, drummer Kory
Knipp and Louisville guitarist TimFlaherty. Later before the 2003 tour adding Louisville keyboardist Daniel Feese. With many
musical influences (including the Bloodhound Gang,Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Limp Bizkit), he came up with plenty of
songs with funky beats and lyrics about sex.
The name of the band comes from the irreverent nickname that Werthner gave the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend after she and
Werthner broke up inthe early '90s. He was an NYPD officer with a feathery out-of-date haircut.
Their song 'Fever for the Flava' was featured on the soundtrack of a few films, most notably the American Wedding
soundtrack (as well as appearingin episodes of the shows King of the Hill and The Man Show); a version with custom lyrics
(about cars instead of sex) appeared in Need for Speed: HotPursuit 2.
Over a six year gap of line-up changes and record label disputes, the band finally released new material in the form of their
2009 EP, marking achange in style, moving away from their rap-rock and sexually-orientated roots into a more serious
theme. They are currently working on a new album set for early 2013, and released a new single in May 2012, a cover of
'Comfortably Numb' by Pink Floyd « hide |
