Getting its start from the not-too-far away college town of Madison,Wisconsin -- Craig Benzine (lead vocalist, guitar), Matt Weber (lead guitar, backing vocals), Sam Grant (bass, backing vocals) and Nate Bartley(drums) met at the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus and formed Driftless Pony Club. After graduation, and deciding to pursue their dreamsof becoming a successful band; Driftless Pony Club set its sights on the big city of Chicago, Illinois, where lead vocalist Craig Benzine would help fundthe band and support himself by becoming a waiter. In Benzine's words: "Now, I don't know if you noticed, but the early 2000s was one of the worst times to pursue a career as a musician. The musicindustry was being destroyed, indie labels died, and there were more bands than ever." Despite these setbacks, Driftless Pony Club continued to makemusic and play shows. This willingness to stick together has led the band to becoming a staple in the well-known music scene of Chicago. Becoming frustrated with his job, Craig Benzine decided to use his skills gained from majoring in Communication Arts- Radio/Television/Film at UW -Madison to start his own online vlog, creating the moniker Wheezy Waiter. In just over a year, gaining a few hundred fans and more experience increating and editing video, Benzine was offered a job creating and editing videos for a local company, leaving his job as a waiter behind. Despite thechange of career, Benzine continued to make vlogs under the moniker Wheezy Waiter, building an even bigger fanbase and gaining a audience of loyalfans, spreading all over the globe. Though Driftless Pony Club had already been an established and acclaimed band, releasing two well received albums, Janel and Cholera; the rise inpopularity of Wheezy Waiter's vlogs bolstered the band's popularity as well, sparking 4 nationwide tours and a plethora of packed live performances. After signing with DFTBA records, an online record label created by John and Hank Green of vlogbrothers fame, Driftless Pony Club have releasedthree critically acclaimed albums in Expert, Buckminster and Magnicifent. Quote provided by Craig Benzine via Wheezy Waiter, the video is "Driftless". « hide
