Quiet Riot reached their peak in 1983 and fell in 1984. While most people know Quiet Riot as the band that made the "Cum on Feel the Noize" cover, and fewer know that that cover helped them be the first chart-topping metal band, Quiet Riot's story begins in 1975, when vocalist Kevin DuBrow formed a band that featured guitarist Randy Rhoads (the same Randy Rhoads of Ozzy Osbourne fame), bassist Kelli Garni, and drummer Drew Forsyth. After getting a record deal with Columbia in Japan and recording two albums, the band lost Rhoads to Osbourne and split.
In 1982, DuBrow formed a band with guitarist Carlos Cavazo, bassist Rudy Sarzo, and drummer Frankie Balani. The new Quiet Riot recorded Metal Health, which, as mentioned before, topped the charts. Then the band suffered from a major slump. In 1984 they released Condition Critical, which was almost the same album as Metal Health (it even featured another Slade cover), and the band went through a disastrous run through the 1980's. There were various quittings and arguments, and DuBrow even got fired after Quiet Riot III.
Since then, the "classic" Quiet Riot line-up has recorded two albums and a live album.
