My Morning Jacket is an American rock band. Formed in 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky, the band consists of five members —
singer/songwriter/guitarist Jim James, bassist "Two Tone" Tommy, drummer Patrick Hallahan, guitarist Carl Broemel, and keyboardist
Bo Koster. The band is best known for their reverb-soaked sound and their enthusiastic live shows. My Morning Jacket is signed with
ATO Records, and since their first album, The Tenessee Fire in 1999, they have released two followups to their freshman outing: It Still Moves in 2003 and Z in October of 2005.
The band's moniker comes from a discarded coat James saw with the letters "MMJ" on it, and the idea stuck.
