The Murderdolls are a horror/glam metal band formed in 2002. The band has been described as "Mötley Crüe meets the Misfits", with the
image of the former combined with the content of the latter. Topics such as necrophilia, grave robbing, and cross dressing are touched upon
in a tongue in cheek manner.
The project originated from Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison's wish to revive an old band of his, called the Rejects. During the 1999 Ozzfest

The project originated from Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison's wish to revive an old band of his, called the Rejects. During the 1999 Ozzfest
tour, Jordison met Tripp Eisen (formerly of Static-X) and asked him if he was interested in working with him on the project, with the original
vocalist Dizzy Draztik. Later, Jordison was introduced to the music of Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13, fronted by vocalist
Wednesday 13. This lead to the invitation of the singer in 2001, who promptly played the bass guitar before replacing Draztik as vocalist
and frontman.
At this point, the Rejects changed their name to the Murderdolls. With a horror theme in force and driven by Wednesday 13's music, the trio
set about recording "Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls" (which featured a catalogue of 13's music that he had written for Frankenstein
Drag Queens From Planet 13,). In early 2002, Ben Graves and Eric Griffin, were hired to play the bass guitar and drums respectively
(Jordison played guitar).
After only playing two live shows with the Murderdolls, Eisen returned to his main band Static-X as they were due to record a new album at
the time. A friend of Eisen's Acey Slade was brought in to replace him on guitar.
In 2003, after tourning in support of their debut, the band went on hiatus. Jordison has returned to drumming duties with Slipknot,
Wednesday 13 has started his a solo project, and the fellow band members have performed with a variety of artists.
In March 2010, Jordison officially revealed to Kerrang magazine that Murderdolls had officially reunited with a brand new lineup and album.
The new record, Women and Children Last, was recorded by Jordison and Wednesday 13 and is set for release in August followed by a world
tour. « hide |
