Mariya Takeuchi is a highly influential Japanese pop artist. In 1978, she released her first full length album, "Beginning", at theage of 23. She originally started out as an idol, but quickly stood out for her mature sound. Due to her mature tone, she is oftenconsidered to be one of the most revolutionary Japanese pop idols in history.
