Blues Traveler is a jam band/ blues band from Princeton, New Jersey. The band formed in 1988 with vocalist/harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, bassist Bobby Sheehan, and drummer Brendan Hill. After the sudden death of Bobby Sheehan in 1999, Chan's brother Tad joined the band on bass. Ben Wilson also joined the band on keyboards. The band broke through to the mainstream due largely to their single "Run-Around" off of the 1994 album Four. "Hook", another single off the same album, is probably their second most recognizable single.

Blues Traveler is best known for their great live shows. They are known for playing the Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver, Colorado every 4th of July. They have a live album and DVD of their July 4, 2003 concert at Red Rocks called Live: On the Rocks.
