Review Summary: Scythians may hate rainbows, but they get a GREAT soundtrack. Not content with just scoring the game, Mr. Guthrie created an album that stands alone as the height of... well, what exactly is it? It's folkish, vaguely, but that's overshadowed by synthpop, which winds it's way between lush, ambient textures, and there's even a bit of pure electronic music. There's bits with a choir, and then there's a sudden burst of acoustic guitar plucking, which culminates in an electronic, drifting synth freakout. There's some noisy dramatic pieces, and then there's pure ambient classical, if that can even be defined as pure. But it all moves from one to another, even when cello drifts to driving beat, when noisy crashing falls into plucking of a guitar, to a sample of stephen hawking, to an assault of noise that can be best defined as apocalyptic. It's a concerto, it's a painting in music. The album starts with a flute, and ends with what sounds like the end of the world, people screaming, dying, everything. It all comes crashing down, starting with the perfectly arranged beginning to the chaos and terrifying driving drum and bass of the end. And it's a journey worth taking.

This is a pretty bad review I have to say. You just wrote a paragraph about how the music sounds, no backstory on Guthrie, the game, the album.... you don't really talk about the way the music feels or something. This is just a glorified sound off. Which is a shame, because I checked "It takes time" recently. And it's great, so I assume that this is pretty good as well.

| | | the review is fine-- really good, even. says all it needs to.
listened to this awhile ago and wasn't fond of it outside its context, but i'm sure its game gives it a definite edge

Yeah it's a beautiful song from this album, it doesn't appear on the tracklisting (that normaly has about 27 tracks, so
there's a few missing)
