Review Summary: A competent rapper makes a competent album.

Jody Breeze is an American rapper, best known for his role as the figurehead of Atlanta-based Boyz N Da Hood. The group consisted of other rappers such as Gorilla Zoe, Duke, Big Gee, and Young Jeezy (before he went solo). There is also a much publicized feud between Breeze and Jeezy - one that has been the result of Jeezy's apparent facades in the rap game, among other things.

"Welcome To The Future: Part 2" is actually a mixtape, but for this I'm just calling it an album, because it damn sure feels like one. This album is a fifteen-track, 48 minute roller coaster ride. Jody seems all too comfortable on "Future: Part 2", as if he's in his element. There isn't much downtime on the album - Jody tries to keep the listener entertained in some fashion or another.

The album starts strong with "Lights Camera Action", a highlight track. Features a cruising beat, with some great word play ("If it's good then I might keep her, I know I'm doing wrong but I'm smoking on the right reefer. I know the rules and the right people"). Definitely a track worth listening to if any.

Lyrically, you won't find anything different or creative compared to most rap albums. Jody raps about females, trapping, taking care of his daughter, (insert beef here) songs, etc. What really stands him out from the crowd is his smooth delivery and southern swagger. Jody is a very competent writer, and again he uses word play to his advantage throughout the album. His remix of "Deuces" actually is very well done, and is better than Chris Brown's original version.

Most of the beats are very southern-based, created by DJ Teknikz. Most of the beats are very relaxed, while some hit hard ("Dope", "Take a Pic"). Again, you won't find anything amazing, but Jody makes every beat sound good with his skill on the microphone.

Overall, Jody Breeze has created a catchy album with a decent amount of replay value. You'll find some very entertaining songs, and others will bore you quite a bit. I do recommend this for any fan of Boyz N Da Hood, or southern rap period. You can download it for free at datpiff.com, and it's worth the trouble.

Just a good southern-rap album. Nothing fantastic, but Jody is definitely someone to watch out for.
