Review Summary: A collection of remixes that should be strongly considered as a debut album.

Producer and composer Sebastian Akchoté or better known as SebastiAn has been lurking on the Ed Banger Label , slowly making EPs and singles for copulations making glitch and techno hits like Smoking Kills (?). So why does the label keep him on if he doesn’t like releasing music? Well, SebastiAn is more of a producer, helping out his label mates and touring with the Banger crew, while also pumping out remixes on the side.

This compilation is his major remixes from 2005 to 2008.

In this 3 year time period, he made a collection that is well crafted remixes that in about a little over an hour. Taking genres like Pop, Dance Punk, House, and Hip-Hop and making them all fit for the dance floor, sounding all unique yet similar. All of these remixes involve heavy distortion (Golden Skans), drones (Cheap and Cheerful’s end) and cut-up vocals (Walking Machine) that samples that deconstructs the song and reassembles the basic beat of the original song and adds some flavor. For example ‘Texas’ features almost the same beat yet the interludes SebastiAn creates is almost as if the song is ready to explode your speakers and comes a beast of its own. Taking from all these genres to sound similar is a feat worth noting. (I personally am convinced Skrillex did and made a song similarly to ‘Testrossa Autodrive’)

This is the upside and downfall. If you are not an electronic fan, you might not find these remixes impressive or futuristic. If you enjoy the artists that he used for this compilation, you will find these songs an interesting take. To make a song similar yet different is a true show of SebastiAn’s strengths to making explosive remixes that seem to cause chills and thrills whenever I tell my friends about any of these songs.

alright so I know this comment is like two and a bit years old but the reason this only has 1/4 approval is because it needs a major proofread.

first sentence:

"Producer and composer Sebastian Akchoté or better known as SebastiAn has been lurking on the Ed Banger Label , slowly making EPs and singles for copulations making glitch and techno hits like Smoking Kills (?)."

fixed: "Producer and composer Sebastian Akchoté, better known as SebastiAn, has been lurking on the Ed Banger label, slowly releasing EPs, singles for compilations*, and making glitch and techno hits like "Smoking Kills (?)".

*BIG difference between compilations and copulations

none of this stuff is honestly that big of a deal, it just makes your review pretty hard to read to be perfectly honest. if you want more help with this talk to me or somebody else (there's a proofreading thread on the forums I think). this isn't really that bad for a first review, sorry about the lack of input you got.

on the other hand, the fact that you reviewed this makes you super cool in my book, very underrated album. the only other review I saw for this just talked about how each song sounds the same, and I think it's cool how you appreciated the subtleties behind a non-subtle album. good job. I hope you keep working on/writing reviews.
