3.0 good | demon of surveillance | December 31st 11 | While creating another enjoyable listen, Xerath have failed to provide much more than what was present on their debut album. Faster, blast-beat laden songs such as "Reform Part III" provide something new, yet the orchestrations and riffs are the same. The vocals are all that has really changed, with variations of Devin Townsend-esque screams and Joe Duplantier-style growls.

3.0 good | asdemonsburn | April 22nd 11 | Have you ever thought - MAN, XERATH IS COOL, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD MAKE THEM EVEN COOLER?!?! HOW ABOUT WAKING THE FALLEN-ERA AVENGED SEVENFOLD GROWLS.
That's right, not a single god-damn person. Aside from an all-around obnoxious vocal performance, everything else is an upgrade from I. Unless an instrumental version of II is released (yeah, right), I have no reason to listen again.

3.5 great | MunchoMuncho | September 22nd 14 | Sure this album has some moments and some great riffs, but the similarity to the first album is too big, and the overall structure of the songs are also quite familiar.

3.5 great | Omeggia | January 15th 13 | This band plays it way too safe. So safe it gets boring pretty quickly. There are some moments of brilliance but they are way too few.

2.0 poor | pornogrindtheater | November 30th 11 | The instrumentation on this album is passable. The vocals are nothing to write home about, but they don't kill the music either. Generally, combining these two elements would provide a 2.5 average rating, maybe a low 3. But the songwriting on II is just so goddamn boring, I don't remember anything about the music just played mere seconds before. This stuff could be hospital anesthetic for brain surgery. Too heavy to lull you to sleep, but it puts you in quite the stupor.

2.5 average | Sevenlee | May 29th 11 | Pretty much the same as the first album with boring riffs and a lack of direction

3.5 great | PostModernJellyfish | May 8th 11 | It's alright. I dig some of the epic harmonies in the album. Better than I, but not by too much. I have some hope for these guys. They're capable of some good shit. They just need to take more time to write and compose next album.
