Prozzak's second album, Saturday People, follows the same formula as hot show, but with, in my opinion, much better results. Now for a long and boring in-depth review of each track. Cause I’m original like that.
1. Saturday People Story:
Following the formula of Hot Show, this is the intro song to Saturday People. It introduces a very complicated and confusing storyline, being that Simon was a British naval officer and Milo was a Viking. While they were fighting 400 some years ago, they got magically sent forward in time, and then became friends for some reason. Then an unseen voice explains that only true love can send them back in time to where they are supposed to be. This track just makes the shaky and unnecessary plot of Prozzak’s music harder to understand.
2. Pretty Girls:
Pretty Girls is a fast-pop song, and one of the best songs on the album. If Prozzak had made all their songs in the style of Pretty Girls, they might have become a hit electronica band. But sadly they didn't. The song is about asking a girl out and the nervousness that comes with it. The lyrics consist mainly of Simon describing all the things he would do with her if he could. This song was by far one of the best ones Prozzak ever wrote.
3. www.nevergetoveryou:
This is another fast-pop song, and is another one of Prozzak’s all-time greats. The lyrics are about an online relationship between Simon and a nameless girl. The girl does not want to meet him in real life, so Simon makes a website for her to try to change her mind. With catchy and enjoyable lyrics, this song is a must hear.
4. Be As:
This is a song about equality, peace, love, etc. It is a great song, and unlike most Prozzak music, actually carries a deeper meaning. Although not the best it could have been, Be As is still an enjoyable song.
5. It's Not Me It's You:
It's Not Me It's You is a great example of what Prozzak is best at: mixing sad lyrics with happy music to make you forget your problems. The rhythm is a bizarre remix of "dance of the sugarplum fairy", but is done in such a way that it is still original and new. The lyrics consist mainly of Simon recalling his past breakups with girls. Be warned this song will be stuck in your head for hours. Definitely a must-hear.
6. Infatuation:
Infatuation is not actually written by Prozzak, but rather a contest winner. Surprisingly, it is actually a great song. The rhythm is catchy as hell. You cannot listen to this song without dancing. The lyrics consist of Simon longing for a girl who turned him down. It is crazy good. Definitely a must-hear.
7. Saturday People:
The album’s namesake, Saturday people marks the end of fast-pop on this album. It pretty much goes downhill from here. This song has one of my favorite lyrics of all time (in my opinion, there’s too many lives being wasted on missing the fun). You will have to listen to this song two or three times, because Simon sings it so fast that you will miss at least half of it the first time. The rhythm is quirky and original, and the lyrics are about how partying is a dying trend. Although not their best, Saturday People is a great song.
8. Feed The Night:
Again following the Hot Show formula, Feed The Night is a disturbing club song about hiring strippers. It leaves you with a weird taste in your mouth, like eating an old rubber band. Feed The Night is a frightening reminder of why James McCollum shouldn’t write music. Nuff said.
9. Usted Es Muy Loco:
Again following the Hot Show formula, Usted Es Muy Loco is a Spanish song. And surprisingly enough, it's about Simon wishing he could speak Spanish. Though not terrible, this song shouldn't have happened.
10. Introduction To A Broken Heart:
This song is beautiful. Though the lyrics are sub-standard, the instrumentals are simply amazing. It will bring a tear to your eye. Slow and lofty, the rhythm will make you think of angels. Definitely a must-hear.
11. Monday Morning:
Monday Morning could have been a great fast-pop song, if it didn’t keep switching to a ballad-like rhythm. The lyrics are about one of the Prozzak team dying in a car accident, masked as Simon singing about losing a friend. Although not bad, this song is not worth listening to Feed The Night and Usted Es Muy Loco on the way down the track list.
12: Lonely American Nights:
Lonely American Nights is a great song. The rhythm and lyrics match each other perfectly. It's hard to put it into words. You have to listen to it. Indescribable.
In closing, I’d have to say that Saturday People was great, but it could have been much greater.
