Thank's to Cameron Heacock's and Chad Hank's
adictions's,American Head Charge was formed
in 1996 in a rehabilitation center in Plymouth,
Minnesota. In an interview with PRP,Chad Hanks
recalls;''in order to graduate the program, the
counsellor made me write a song( he hadn't done
a song sober in years)and perform it for everybody''.
The two bonded and both did the song together.
Unknowingly making it American Head Charge's
first perfomance. So they recruited some more band
members(of which include)Wayne Kile-*guitar*
(1999-2002)Peter Harmon-*drums*(1999-2002)
Dave Rogers-*guitar*(1999-2002)Aaron Zilch-
and Jamie White-*keyboard*(1999-2003)Bryan
Ottoson-*guitar*(2002-2005)and Chris Emery
-*drums*(who was fired this year).
American Head Charge's first album''trepanation''
was independently released on July 18,1999.
Two years later comes their second album
''the war of art'',(which was on the record label
''american recordings'')and finally comes,
''the feeding''A.H.C.'s third album.Despite this
album being a much more concentrated effort
than''the war of art'',''the feeding''only
produced one radio and video single.
But don't count this cd out just yet.
''The feeding''proves to be their most
innovative,and original album to date.
Tracklist:1.loyalty-the only single off of the ''the feeding''
This song sets a fast pace and attitude
for the rest of the album.Quick drumming,
a catchy riff,and some brutal lyrics,this
makes a great choice for the single as this
seems to be the heaviest and most anger-
filled song. 4/5
2.pledge allegiance-right off the bat it continues
the energy of ''loyalty''with very creative
guitar-work;however it starts to lack when
the song begins to keep changing pace.
They fail to be melodic in this track which
begins to make it boring and uneasy to listen to. 2.8/5
3.dirty-this track does not pick up any slack from
the last,in fact it is probably a little bit worse
because there is not a single thing that stands
out in this song that is positive. In other words...
FILLER!!definetly not recommended. 2.5/5
4.ridicule-this is the best track on the cd.
It starts off with an excellent riff, and at
about twenty seconds in, Cameron starts
to whisper the lyrics to the song, instantly
giving me chills.The song builds
up to a stunning and unforgetable
chorus...i can't help but to sing along with
this track,it has the best melody.
Making it easily my favorite
on ''the feeding''. 5/5
5.take what i've taken-this song has a rather
creepy vibe and seems to drag on forever...
it just gets annoying after awhile and is
an ordinary track...nothing special here. 2.8/5
6.leave me alone-starts off with the heaviest
riff since ''loyalty''and contains a good melody
throughout the song. There are alot of harsh
lyrics in this song...reminding me very much
of ''loyalty''once again.That isn't a very good
thing since that means two tracks sound very similar.
Overall this is a solid song. 3.5/5
7.walk away-my second favorite song on the
album...simply because it's great chorus
simple lyrics''it's better to walk away''
making it an easy-listener.I really
enjoy this song.It's classic A.H.C. 4.5/5
8.erratic-this is probably the worst track on the
album. It is just so boring...I have nothing to say
about it. 2/5
9.fiend-this is the slowest song on ''the feeding'',
and is disturbing...it creates a very weird vibe
and has some ''head-scratching'' lyrics. It may
slow...but it beats the last track with ease. 3/5
10.cowards-a very fast song with some technical
drumming and constant screaming. The bad thing
about the song is it is very repetitive. The same riff
is played over and over again...it's an average track.
Nothing more.... 3/5
11.to be me-the finale to a good album,it is fairly slow,
but the lyrics and ''creepiness'' make up for that.
All in all,A.H.C. remains original...while pushing
the limits of industrial rock... 3.5/5
OVERALL--3.5/5 this cd is better than i thought it
would be...this band is definetly different
and has expanded the limits of industrial rock...
PRO'S-originality
catchy riffs
''ridicule''
