With Himsa's new release "Hail Horror" they break the boundaries of what some thought was impossible after the release of "Courting Tragedy and Disaster" They step it up quite a few notches on "Hail Horror". In one word this album can be described as BRUTAL, The unique voice of John Pettibone really shows it's range on this album, from almost death metal lows to not quite piercing highs. His voice is different than most metal vocalists in my opinion anyway. The guitar work on this album is simplistic at some points, but that does not take away from how good it is, it doesn?t have to be complicated to be awesome. The guitarists do some pretty nice harmony work, and the solos flat out rock. The drums are just simply amazing in my point of view. I can't really hear the bass, but I rarely can on anything, so don?t let that turn you off to this phenomenal album.

The albums high points are the songs "The Destroyer" and "Seminal" The first starts off with what sounds like a timpani drum, and a distorted voice in the background, then what sounds like a heart monitor goes dead. It then kicks in to very heavy guitar and drum intro. This song has a breakdown in it and some people hate most "metalcore" bands because they wear out breakdowns, listen to this one and I bet you change you're mind, it's sounds so heavy that if it were an actual object, you couldn?t pick it up.

The later, "Seminal" starts off with what sound like twin guitar type solo/intro, just to get you ready, and the kicks into John Pettibone's barking screams, and the chorus is catchy as well. The solo this song is epic, and it has one of the coolest lines in it "Bury the hatchet in the name of aggression, They're living on they're knees" Excellent drumming on both songs. If you liked "Courting Tragedy and Disaster" and haven?t got this album yet, get it ASAP, you wont be disappointed, and if you haven?t heard off Himsa and want some brutal heavy metal, buy "Hail Horror" it satisfies.

This is my first review, so some constructive criticism would be nice.

Congratulations on getting the wrong album cover =)

This is an awesome album and surpasses Courting Tragedy in everyway. Wither and Seminal are my favourite songs.

Wrong cover art. I was going to do this but you beat me to it. This album was a letdown. Only a few songs stand out.

Great cd. Pestilence, Seminal, and Sleezevil are sick. New cd is even better.

Has anyone seen the new Himsa videos? One, they're sasquatches, and the other, they're tennis players. Check it out.
