And now we hit our first apex, an epic Beethoven sonata longer than almost any other he would put out, with some incredible moments that still pale in comparison to the second movement. The seeds of Romanticism lie in this part alone - listen as the piano transitions from Classical-adjacent chord structures into minor-key arpeggiations as the second theme enters. Stunning.
