Much much weaker than Monumentum. Songwriting is weak, too predictable. Monumentum is a much
better example of futurepop, because most songs avoid the standard 3 chorus routine one of the
things where the songwriting is miles ahead of this album.
The average futurepop album does exactly that, with plenty examples where not a single song has
the 3rd chorus (VNV Nation - Matter + Form, Seabound - Double-Crosser and Absurd Minds - The
Focus, and Pride And Fall - In My Time Of Dying and Angels & Agony - Unison for example coming
close to that).
What I also realized is that aside from this album, the best structured futurepop albums are NOT
from the USA. Necessary Response is almost an exception. But artists like Assemblage 23, System
Syn and Cesium_137 all have weakly structured songs that don't develop anywhere.
What saves the album "Meta" (2007, from Assemblage 23) are sound and the atmosphere, both strong
points of A23, don't know why he doesn't try to do something different with the song structures at
least sometimes...
At least there are some really good dark electro / aggrotech bands from the US, like Velvet Acid
Christ, Die Sektor and Life Cried for example.

By definition, Frozen Plasma would technically excel at combining synthpop vocals with futurepop music. Such a statement would surely argue that Artificial deserves an excellent rating. However, I just don't see it that way. Firstly, most of the songs revolve around a single synth line and a strong chorus. Therefore, disregarding decent verse sections. While it may not be the end of the world in a genre like this, it still results in weak songwriting. Perhaps the most interesting weakness of this album is the production; it is in fact too clean. Almost like a Joey Sturgis record, everything on the album gives off a slick impression and it takes away even more from whatever the album originally had.
