3.0 good | mafoogles | November 27th 09 | Ah yes, Deathcore...a genre filled with stupidly written breakdowns, low tunings, and of course a lack of orginality...
Here is Doom Cannon, a band hailing from Vancouver, BC. As a fellow Canadian musician I can understand how a band can get lost in the discourse like Doom Cannon has, but all the same, the band simply lacks something different. Sure, the Filthy EP is a fine set of six songs, but what sets this music apart from other Canadian deathcore acts like Despised Icon or Ion Dissonance.
To be honest, not much. I found this EP fun to listen to but really, I gained little enjoyment from it. With that said, I believe Doom Cannon is on a road to better songs and shows serious potential, and perhaps with a set of new songs on their next album coming soon, we can hope to see some better musicianship, song writing and hopefully some originality.
cheers.
