Review Summary: Mississipi: know any good rappers from there? Here ya go.
I'm not even sure if this is an official release but bear with me. Tha Joker is an up-and-coming Mississipi rapper with a knack for quirky punch-lines. His simplistic way of rapping is almost comical, and some may say that his is an amateur style but Joker is all about the lyrics which is quite refreshing in the Auto-Tune Age. I doubt that he really has anything important to say at all, but when it comes to pure unadulterated entertainment Tha Joker delivers like Domino's.
This mixtape is a show-offy example of Tha Joker's power, and like the Batman character, he is unpredictable but quite charismatic. He sounds like he just learned how to flow yesterday but that only adds to the credibility of his namesake. As aforementioned his lyrics are rock solid and quirky which only amplifies his entertainment value; he talks like he's on top of the world in an Escalade ridin' on 28's you can't bootleg, motherfucker. Sometimes you just want to relax and listen to a self-proclaimed gangsta talk his way into a hot girl's panties. The way Tha Joker sees himself is egotistical and self-righteous, and this confidence while not entirely original is befitting of his stage personality, and he's a good performer. I can see myself buying tickets to see the dude. If anything, that hot girl he ***ed before might be there and more than willing.
Actually the music on this mixtape is rather openly generic. Joker's cartoonish rapping qualifies these T-Pain beats as worthwhile though, and it isn't a chore to hear this record like much other club-oriented stuff. Sure, it really only requires one listen, or one half of a listen to make your decision on whether or not it's a good tape which it is, due to songs like "Aqua Water" featuring Gucci Mane that should be illegal they're so damn catchy. Gucci's southern drawl brings out the ignorant hustla theme outstandingly, and matched up with Joker the duo are unstoppable. His lyrics on the three "We Do It For Fun" tracks could make anybody want to pick up a mic and just have fun the same way. So thats all this mixtape ever strived to be: catchy. Hook, line and sinker for me, it's like audible cocaine.
I'm warning you now, if you despise gangsta-rap stay the *** away from this but you probably already knew that by looking at the cover. Whoever said don't judge a book by it's cover doesn't listen to rap. Anywho, Tha Joker is a great addition to your collection of rap music and by that I mean he's gonna stand out in the future and you'll be applauded for enjoying his music by your gold-chain wearing, break-dancing buddies. Tha Joker does it for fun and he does it well.
