3.0 good | Davey | May 17th 23 | Symphonic-tinged Gothenburg style melodeath, Lothlorien's The Primal Event features synths aplenty and guitar leads that wouldn't be out of place on an early In Flames album. While the drums could use a bit more impact and the symphonic elements can be a bit too much sometimes, The Primal Event is still a decent, overlooked album.
Unfortunately, the chance to see if they would improve would be lost as their debut would also be their last.

1.5 very poor | Dethtrasher | May 2nd 09 | How do you manage to stand out in a time when melodic death metal is flourishing? In Flames and At The Gates was creating history and got extremely famous worldwide, but not all bands got famous though. Lothlorien was unfortunately one of those bands, but Lothlorien was one of the worst ones. Lothlorien sounded exactly like a mix between In Flames and At The Gates, but the band added symphonic elements to their music as well. The Primal Event is a generic, sub-par example of crappy melo-death. Shitty vocals, bland melodies, poor drumming and cheesy symphonic keyboards is what you get from this album.
