This album came completely out of nowhere for me, never heard these guys demo before but will definitely keep an eye out for future releases. To me there sound is equal parts grind and technical death but the technical part comes more from speed rather than furious fretboard wizardry. The singing is really varied as well, the typical death metal vocals interspersed with some hardcore style singing and gang chants as well as some vocals with heavy effects on them. Drums are lightning fast if a little monotonous but work well with the style of music obviously. The guitars really stand out for me, with the riffs lightning fast and incredibly creative at times but there is also the use of some clean, slower parts that play off the quicker parts really well.
These Canadians have put together a great debut that continues the long line of great Canadian tech releases. Can’t say I’ve heard too many bands that sound a hell of a lot like them but if you like techy death or grind I’m sure that you’ll enjoy this also.
