Remnants of the Deftones-inspired sound of the 5 EP still remain, but the roots of what the band would become with Norma Jean are much more obvious on Luti-Kriss' first and only full-length. The end result is a well-executed, if unrefined, mixture of raw metalcore and alternative metal that doesn't let up until the untitled, hidden finale, a mellow semi-acoustic number showing a whole new side to the band and particularly frontman Josh Scogin's vocals. Overall, Throwing Myself is a vast improvement over the EP and an oft-overlooked gem worth checking out.
