Ameliorate is the debut EP of that band everyone loved in Guitar Hero III, and thankfully "Impulse" isn't the only great song here. All four of these songs are engaging and entertaining genre-jumping romps. Granted, the production's not very good, but the songwriting is. It's short-- this is an EP, remember-- but there is more creativity in this 17 minutes than many bands have on their full lengths.

An excellent showcasing of prog instrumental work with addictive riffs. Do wish the production was slightly better and that there were more songs - but then, this *is* an EP. All songs are, however, gems with immense replay value.

It may seem weird for me to rate this a 5 but this prog without mucky wankery or shit vocals to detract from the listening experience. Each and every song is tightly written, with songs being melody and rhythm driven rather than by constant noodling. The beautiful acoustic sections on "Sun Of Pearl" and the funky wah wah parts on "Impulse" are the best parts on the whole album. Plus ,it's only 4 songs, so it doesn't bore at all.

While lacking finesse, these are some of the most colorful progressive songs you will hear. There is just so much flavor from a huge variety of influences. The EP has 4 quality instrumental tracks that are complex, catchy, funky, heavy, beautiful, upbeat and every other positive adjective you can think of. The songs could perhaps be a little more refined, but there is so much raw composing talent in this EP. 'Anything' is definitely one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. I could put that song on repeat for 24 hours and not get bored.
