4.5 superb | CTRoadMom | August 8th 08 | Only listening to Stabbing after becoming a fan of The Dreaming and knowing the completely differerent sound engineering of Walter vs Carlton, I don't agree that The Dreaming is a rehash of Stabbing. Jinxx's guitar work is far more articulate than what I hear in SW tracks. The Dreaming's backing tracks are more techno than industrial. Also The Dreaming spans such an age and style range...I find the younger and the more mature styles and the influences of the entire history of all the band members, even to the classical training of one of the members in most of the tracks. I will give that there Eating Me Alive underwhelms me. I'm kind of glad they don't include it in their live shows. The album version of Disconnected is good but I do prefer the acoustic version with Jinxx on violin.
I look forward to future albums from this band because I think that Jinxx's arranging and Carlton's engineering will only get more polished.

3.5 great | dagger57331 | February 21st 08 | Stabbing Westward's vocalist, Christopher Hall, is back under the moniker The Dreaming along with some new band mates and doesn't do anything particularly new, so to speak, but for what the album is, it is very well executed. For fans of SW, you can easily hear the influences and it is no doubt a good follow up. The production quality is top notch (and if anything a bit too prevalent(although considerings it's SW reincarnated that makes some sense)) and the vocals sound crisp and clear, and the guitar work, although rarely standout, is always good.
