Review Summary: Darkness Divided shows the band improving on almost all levels.

Darkness Divided released their debut record, Written in Blood, in 2014. A stellar record in it's own right, the band showcased their talents as both musicians and songwriters, while also hinting at a greater future. A new lineup, more touring under their belts, and growth as musicians led them to create their second record, simply named, Darkness Divided.

Where to begin...
They have succeeded, with flyers colors, in advancing themselves in every way. The riffs are catchier, heavier, and more melodic, all at the same time. They are pulling from everything from classic eighties metal, modern rock, and even modern progressive metal a la Within the Ruins, making the self-titled record feel larger and more expansive than Written in Blood. Just like their debut, their musicianship and technical abilities do not get in the way of the songwriting, which once again, is as top-notch as ever.

The future is only looking brighter for Darkness Divided. Until the next record, this record should remain a mainstay in anybody's metal playlist.

Recommended tracks: Back Breaker, Deciever, The Answer, The End of it All

Your soundoff was too short, it has to be at least 50 characters
