Review Summary: A very fun record from the successful CCM band Newsboys, this album has a quirky dance vibe to it and incorporates a good message of evangelism.
Hailing from Australia, the Newsboys have put out catchy pop rock albums with Christian messages and have two gold albums in Going Public and Step Up to the Microphone. In the early 2000's they strayed from this pop rock formula and put out two worship albums, now they return to their poppy roots in what could be described as a triumphant return to the "Newsboys" sound.
The album opens up with Wherever We Go and from the opening of this songs listeners know the Newsboys have changed direction from their worship albums. It's an upbeat number, that tells about the bands travels on their previous tour where they played in Africa, Israel, and Russia. The band has written an infectious song here that will no doubt get stuck in everybody's head. Following up this song are Go, and Something Beautiful both incorporating the albums theme with Go being an upbeat track and Something Beautiful being a mid-tempo rocker very much suited for Christian radio-play. Your love is better than life is an interesting song as it incorporates some lame rapping, but all in all it's a good risk that is a good addition to the album. The rest of the songs mainly fit in the up tempo pop rocker vain or the mid tempo worship song vain.
This is a step up in the right direction for the Newsboys at this point in their career. After releasing two bland worship albums they needed a revival and they found it with this fun, catchy album full of interesting pop rock songs.
