Light 3.5 - Will Haven continues to make solid and unique metalcore. ,,WHVN''...is diffucult release to write about, It has most of the stuff we've loved about ,,El Diablo'': the heavy bass, difficult almost noisey soundscapes, heavy extremely sludgey guitar walls and visceral vocal work, plus it bears new experimentation and slightly more diverse songwriting. So why 3.3 avg. ?? Well...the inconsistency, even though there are some new ideas, most of them just fall short or are not memorable at all, the great example of that would be the totally unnecesary strange intro to ,,Fresno'' or the more straightforward part of the album ,,Jaworski'' or ,,Muse'', even though both of these songs are very enjoyable, they are not really memorable or special. Another problem would be, that some of the songs on this album sound almost like B-sides of ,,El Diablo'' ,,Genesis 11'' or ,,Dallass drake''. But In the end I am just too much of a fan of the sound of these guys, so even though I think some of these songs are slightly underdeveloped and maybe way too safe, they are in no way shape or form bad. And on the other hand this album offers some real highlights like for example these sludgey extremely heavy and extremely well structured songs like ,,Slopez'' or ,,Death do us apart'' or the magnificent 9 minute long ,,Miguel Abburido''. So in the end this album doesn't reach the heights of ,,El diablo'', but if you are a fan of these guys, there is no way you won't enjoy this.
