John Zorn's Moonchild project's final outing is...okay. It's not an especially dramatic finale and
certainly doesn't raise the bar for them, considering some of the excellence they achieved in the
past. Rather, it sounds like a successful formula operating in a comfortable groove; although this
is no bad thing, it certainly sacrifices much of the group's shock value, one of their key
factors. There are a few moments of greatness here - Trinity has some awesome bass (Trevor Dunn
really shines throughout the album) and Le Tombeau De Jacques De Molay is absolutely gorgeous -
but The Last Judgement is ultimately a decent effort that signifies a good time to stop.
