Review Summary: One negative: How do I pronounce the title of the album?
Known exclusively in Australia for their high-energy jams & ferocious live shows, Dipz Zebazios takes nothing away from those titles. The second album from The Delta Riggs is infused with influences ranging from Dr. John to Television right the way through to hip hop superstars OutKast. However, more obvious bands come to mind when listening to "The Record's Flawed' such as Kasabian, with the track sounding like it came straight out of West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. The band even garnered the attention of legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page while on tour in Europe, who has since become a fan.
Dipz Zebazios is a huge improvement over it's predecessor Hex.Lover.Killer moving away from their traditional rock roots moving towards as mentioned previously a number of eclectic influences. This is evident in No Friends a track carried by it's 90's hip hop groove and beats. The album then moves back into guitar driven songs like For Tonight(Live Forever) with harmonious transition. This is the greatness of the album; you never know what you're going to get but whatever it is it's always good.
Top tracks on the album include the two singles; Supersonic Casualities and The Record's Flawed as well as hidden gems like Bobby's Flowers and Ornate Delicate Creatures.
The progression and development of the bands sound on Dipz Zebazios is pleasing. That defying mix of blues and roots, rock, hip hop, psychedelia proves The Delta Riggs' unusual persona as a band. Overall Dipz Zebazios is a well rounded album from a band sure to make some major noise within the near future.
4/5.
