Review Summary: Don't buy this, unless hardcore fan or not offended by 80's pop music.

Journey is a band that I like, not a band that I love. Generally speaking, I only listen to albums by bands that I love. Bands like Journey, are, in my opinion, only good for radio. One day, not far from Christmas a few years ago, "Who's Crying Now" came on the radio while I was in the car with my father. That was when I revealed to him I liked Journey. That being said, this was the only musical item I got for Christmas that year.

The first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Journey is "Don't Stop Believin'." This is a fantastic song. Everybody who's ever turned on the radio knows it, and most will at least admit to loving it. The good thing is, this isn't the only good song they made. Despite most of these songs being from the 80's, in my opinion the absolute worst decade for pop music, they managed to make some great songs. "Be Good To Yourself" and "Open Arms" are a few other very cliche tunes that are easy to love. Since Journey was formed in the 70's, a few songs from that era are also included on here. "Wheel In The Sky" is a very good song, and shows what they are capable of. That is what I liked about the DVD.

Being a video, I cannot rate this solely on the audio content, which I would give a 3. The quality of these music videos, in my opinion, is unratable. I think I would give them a -2/5. There is not one that is 100% cringeworthy. Not even all of these are music videos, some are live performances. When "Separate Ways" starts up, it shows the band members playing air guitar and air drums etc., until a few seconds later their instruments suddenly appear out of nowhere in their hands. I cannot describe how utterly stupid that looks. Terrible acting, with women usually obectified and wearing the type of makeup you would expect a cheap hooker to wear.

Now, I'm not sure what's worse, the MV's or the live performances. They aren't the worst band live, but my God, look at those pants. The outfits they chose made this basically unwatchable. The jeans are tighter than any women's that I know. Not to mention there are plenty of ass-shots you don't want to see.

Just because I hated this doesn't necessarily mean that you will too. I hate the 80's. The only 80's bands that I enjoy are U2, The Police, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But if you're interested in buying this, be warned.

This isn't the band with the video where the singer's in the psychiatrists' office and talking about a "mystical girl he doesn't even know", is it? If so, good God.

I had a couple laughs here and there. This Message Edited On 02.24.07

^I lol'd.

And yeah... this review is meh. I despise Journey, though. Journey and Foreigner are two of the worst things to come out of the 80's.

Can you give a DVD a 1 based on misogynistic actions alone?

edit: You cheeky bastard. You figured out 3/5 + -2/5 = 1.

Any comp of any sort doesn't deserve a 1, if has Don't Stop Believin'.

boo.
I can't imagine this being so unenjoyable and absolutely disgusting that it deserves a 1. You just convinced me by this review to go out and buy this to see if it's actually awful (I probably wont)

Lol at review. I've seen Journey live twice, albeit sans Steve Perry. Journey rules.
