Review Summary: All in all, Tremors is a very good album. It is always good for a second listen, and has songs to suit all sorts. It shows great promise, for a debut album, and its poor record sales reflect very poorly on the overall package. I’ll give it a 3.5/5.

Humanzi are one of the most exciting Irish bands out there at the minute. Their fusion of melodic keyboards, cutting guitars riffs, rhythmic, suitable drumming and beautiful, hooking bass-lines make them a band with a bright future, hopefully.
Their debut album, Tremors, boasts some fine moments and shows great innovation and creativity, along with musical talent in abundance.

The album begins with the excellent opening track, Diet Pills and Magazines. A solid beat and simple riff kick off the album and set the tone for what’s to come. The lyrics are a scathing attack on the media and also (presumably) the power they hold. A tremendous opener and one of the gems of the album.

Next, we have 6 Gun. It starts with another good chord progression (also the verse). This progression is repeated four times alone in the intro after which it fuses into a similar progression (the chorus progression). The intro drags the song to unnecessary length, and makes the song become stale and uninteresting.

Following that is Out On a Wire. This song is one of many examples of a catchy bass-line intro which leads the way for the song. A feel-good song, albeit the lyrics are describing a break-up (I think). Catchy and melodic, this is a wonderful poppy song.

After which we have I Want Silence. A solid, hard-hitting song, showing Humanzis ability to fuse a keyboard in and out of their songs.

On to one of the two best songs on the album, Long Time Coming. The debut single from the album, this song showcases the group’s ability to write a rocking’ pop-rock song. Its clever call-and-answer style guitar intro and great drum and bass fills, along with its memorable lyrics, show the bands capacity to build a song from the start with fine development and an intense climax at the end to finish it in style.

The title track, Tremors blasts at you after Long Time Coming. Passionate and powerful, Tremors is an epic track, and, in my opinion, is badly placed in the album, as it’s the perfect track to end on.

Song for Understanding isn’t one of the strongest on the album, but is lyrically a very gripping piece, and has another memorable chorus.

Fix the Cracks is the best song on the album. Another mouth-watering bass-line opens this anthem, and is the consistent driving force behind it. Solid drums, simple guitaring and powerful vocals all contribute to the song. Its many layers and diverse melodies again display the bands potential and their ability to write great and captivating songs.

Help Me in the Morning follows Fix the Cracks, the worst song following the best. The song has nice development, but lacks a memorable hook or chorus and unfortunately ends up dull and characterless.

Get Your *** Together is an energetic, riveting piece that’ll have you bobbing your head and tapping your feet. It’s simple and enthralling, the drumming in particular funky and driving at the same time.

Mass Hypnosis (Psychosis) is a poor song to end the album on. Another superb bass-line does little to make the song likeable.

I hope you liked my review, and bear in mind I may be wrong about many things, like the lyrics, so feel free to correct me.

If you like it loads, leave a comment!!!!!!!!!(and I’ll take criticism on the chin too)
