Review Summary: Delirium's first ever release manages to capture that damp, gritty and downright scary atmosphere that many fail to do.
Cold, damp and scary definitely relates to these haunting emotions you will experience while listening to this demo...
Delirium is a dark ambient project which was started by Alex Fynø in the chilly hours of April. This is Delirium's first ever release and it sets out to capture that haunting, spin-chilling atmosphere, yet still maintaining that natural vibe and I have to say Alex has done just that!
The demo starts off with the track "The False Mirror" which is more of a intro track for what you're about to listen to, it has a very eerie sort of underwater sound that has a echo to it and that feels like it's squashing you, may not be the most interesting track but definitely sets the mood.
The rest of the demo from the second track onwards would be too hard to describe individually as the tracks blend in so well and this haunting atmosphere you get from it really paints a picture and I think everyone will be able to envision their own story from this demo. For me, It starts out as someone steadily waking up and finding themselves trapped in some sort of gritty asylum and having to find their way out. As they proceed to do this everything seems to get worse and worse, having to walk through the damp, dark almost ghostly-like chambers, which that used to be hallways. But then the person sees a glimpse of light in the distance and finally they make it out in the end, which really reflects at the end of track 4 where it produces a nice natural and relaxing environment/atmosphere.
All together this tape will give you a bucket of emotions and I really think that's what Alex initially set out to do and I can say he has definitely done that. He has really captured the damp, dark and downright scary atmosphere. After giving this demo a few listens It still yet somehow doesn't lose that very apprehensive attitude it has and that's what so great about this demo, you can keep listening to it and it won't lose it's impact.
- I highly recommend giving this a listen as it may not be the best dark ambient tape to ever come out, it's pretty damn good!
