Review Summary: trve thrash
Oh my god this kicks ass. This album never lets up, honestly theres not one moment i think hmm this needs to be more thrash, its pretty much constantly kicking balls. The only parts which arent thrash *** is the intro to Commandments and Osculum Infame, but theyre only short and evil sounding so who cares? soon enough its back to the thrash. The songs themselves follow the same formula throughout, thrash and never ***ing stop thrashing. Seriously is there even one dull moment in the whole album? Its just constant hard ***ing riffs and trems and i cant get enough of this ***. Guitarist Patrick Mameli, who later went on to front the band does a brilliant job on here. The riffs are legendary, the main riff of Parricide is probably the best riff ever made. The bass is kinda audible and pretty much follows the guitar, which isnt an easy feat so good job bass dude. He does have his time to shine on the intro Bacterial Surgery but even sid vicious could play that. The vocals are beautiful, you can hear the passion in his agonising screams. While they arent quite as vile as on the legendary Consuming Impulse its still ***in VAN DRUNEN. Also did i mention the riffs? The drums rule. They are fast and hard, he doesnt piss about wanking on the cymbals he just keeps it simple and does the job, which is thrashing, hard. Pestilence also added a small interlude titled Osculum Infame so you can take a breather which is nice of them, as soon as thats over though its back to ***ing business. The production is great and thats it. If i had to pick a favourite song it would be Chemo Therapy, the riffs are of course sweet and the solo rules. Also the lyrics are brutal and true. There are so many great moments so its hard to single them out. I guess the whole album is too damn consistent for that. Well the ending of Systematic Instruction is ***ing crazy, it sounds like hell is opening up or some ***. Other than that its just riff upon riff upon riff.
Do you like hard riffs&trems? do you like lyrics of truth? are you straight? then this is the album for you. The band later went on to fuck shit up with Death Metal but you already knew that. This is one of the best and most consistent thrash albums out there. Get it.
