Review Summary: In "Unity", once the band's transition period marked by "Ghosts" and above all "Welcome to the Other Side" had passed, Rage consolidated itself as one of the metal groups in best shape at the beginning of this millennium!
To stablish this transition, Rage changed record companies becoming part of Steamhammer -SPV, leaving behind his stage in GUN - BMG, and also hired the more than experienced producer Charlie Bauerfeind, known for his fundamental contribution to German metal having worked on the best albums by groups such as Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Helloween... And a long long etcetera.
All of this together with the absolutely stratospheric instrumental level exhibited by Smolski, Terrana and Wagner crystallized in an album with a beastly sound, like a well-oiled machine, where the guitar phrasing, the furious drumming, the powerful bass lines and Peavy's voice helped by people like Hansi Kürsch and DC Cooper on the baking vocals, create a series of powerful songs almost without pause until reaching the final apotheosis of Unity, one of the best instrumental songs of progressive metal ever made.
As weaknesses I would only mention some monotony towards the end with not so memorable songs like You Want It, You’ll Get It, but that doesn't stop "Unity" from being an excellent album worth enjoying and discovering by any fan of speed metal.
Best Tracks: All I Want (the best chorus of the album), Down (maybe my favorite Rage song), Set This World on Fire (and truly anthemic and catchy tune) and Unity (like a said before, this is a true masterpiece of furious-speed-progressive metal)
