One question though, ShadowsFallen: What would you consider In Flames and Dark Tranquility?

They're Gothenburg, which is not related to death metal. Melodic death spawned from death metal and Gothenburg branched off of melodic death, making an extremely melodic type of metal that is not death metal at all.

Ahhh... well that's rather complicated. I'm sure you're probably right, but I still consider them melodic death.

yah thats true DV, but still like i said in one of my first comments and as vanir said, your missing the point judging the entire band on their lyrical content

You're right, but I did not compare the bands. I just listen to music that's geared more in that direction. And Viking was just responding to your comment that Cannibal Corpse was the only band writing gorey lyrics. Very few people on this site would judge a band entirely based on lyrical content. Many people just don't like this band.

But why is Melodic death metal named: Melodic death metal?

because it used some of the vocal styles and guitar and drum patterns but they add melody which normal death metal bands dont do

Real melodic death metal, like Autumn Leaves and later Dismember, can be considered death metal because they truly are death metal with melody, but 90% of the bands considered "melodic death" aren't death metal at all.

I saw Cannibal Corpse live last weekend. One of the best shows I've ever seen. :D Corpsegrinder is a beast live and their old stuff sounded incredible.

Which show did you go to? I saw them at the rave on Nov. 18. And yes it was the 2nd best metal show i went to. Slayer was better.

I know how you feel about the no votes, even when people say great review. I do it sometimes but that's because I'm dumb and just forget. Great review, though.
I hate this band.
