he can still write pretty good songs as select moments on addiction and my shame prove (dead on the floor, american scream, first two songs on my shame) he just needs to pull his lyrics together and not be incredibly outshines by dan (and let dan have more than 4 songs per album)

like not saying that they've been hopeless ever since, they've had some great cuts stretched upon their last three but their aim has not been about evolving but rather just letting old age get to them and still somehow losing their identity in the process
