Death Magnetic is almost as bad as this. Almost.

Not even close

Compared to this, death magnetic is like a choir of angels. True story.

St Anger is not really that bad but when you are talking about Metallica, a band that has offer you 4 pure awesome albums, you are expecting something greater than this.

And its unacceptable that the songs have no solos.

yeah it might be part of it but it doesn't sound just because of a lack of solos, the other things you mentioned are more important, if they had found something to replace or a way of ridding the solos it wouldn't have mattered.

I don't understand the bashing of this album. The only thing that pisses me off are the saucepan snares. The title track pwns though. Not that I listen to Metallica much, but still, duh.

this is one of those albums that I thought "Naw, this can't be that bad..."

and yet no matter how much I tried to give it second chances this just wasn't enjoyable

The truth is i never liked Metallica alot, but some of their songs from the 2nd, 3d and 4th album i
checked were rly good. I dared to also check a few songs from this too, and i must say it was awfull.
They had an ok intro, but as the song progresed, it sounded like it could appear next to a Nickelback
or another awfull modern rock band on a music programme, and make them sound good.

I don't get it what's so bad about this album. I gave it a listen today and it was pretty fun. Didn't feel like Metallica were so serious about themselves and laid their asses back. Overall it was fun, except for the bad snare sound. And the title track is a smasher.
