Makes me think of Talking Heads...
Both played at CBGB's though, so that's probably why.
Excellent (somewhat psychedelic) album!

Excellent (somewhat psychedelic) album!
lol i don't really see the psychedelia, but maybe that's just me. it just seems like the rhythms are too tight to be psychedelic-influenced

"Television was part of the early 1970s New York underground rock scene, along with bands like the Patti Smith Group, The Ramones, Blondie, Richard Hell and The Voidoids, Talking Heads. In contrast to the Ramones' rock 'n' roll minimalism, Television's music was more complex and more technically proficient, defined by guitarists Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd."
lol at how wikipedia completely contradicts your second paragraph

This shit still gets a few spins every year a good ten years since I first heard it. Just excellent, the true style of NY Punk was never done better than it was here.
Not counting the Ramones there simply because they were always more pop punk than the arty, kind of post-70s disillusionment of the rest of the New York punk scene like with Television here, the Dead Boys, Johnny Thunders, Richard Hell & the Voidoids and that whole scene.
You can still totally hear the influence of more traditional 70s proto-punk New York rock at the time like Lou Reed or Patti Smith or the New York Dolls all over this album. Just a pleasure to listen to.
