This album would be a 2 if it didn't have Fear of the Dark on it.

I also think Judas be my Guide is one of Maiden's most underappreciated songs, damn its short though.

Hmm, first rating is 3.5, and now is lowered to 2 !! Am i correct?

What's about that changing in ratings (and big one here) - i've seen it on other reviews too.

This album is better than just 2

It has 6 good/great songs, and 6 mediocre/poor songs. That equals 2.5 at least.

I find: FotD, Wasting Love, Afraid to shoot strangers & Childhood's End (!!) as the best songs on album; and Judas be my guide & Be Quick or be Dead as pretty good ones.

Read the lyrics.

Although I think we can all agree the title track from this album is a classic, I often wonder how much better this album could have been if Bruce Dickinson had left after their prior album No Prayer For The Dying and has returned to record this. As you have mentioned you can tell the lack of enthusiasm and it has taken its toll on the record, in complete contrast to 21st century Iron Maiden where every wants to record good music.

I love this album. My favorite Maiden LP, defeating 'Somewhere In Time' by the skin of it's teeth.

This album was somewhat the weaker version of no prayer as the music seemed tired, all too familiar and boring at times.
