I wouldn't say awful, just different.

SIDE NOTE: I kind of didn't expect this to have a higher rating than the new LoG album. Of course, not as many people have rated this one, but nonetheless.
Good job, THA.

I heard these guys on MusicChoice and i liked what i heard. It was quite technical and seemed kinda progressive. Your right when you said it brings a new sound to the genre.

Their progressiveness comes in different degrees. They are for the most part kind of like an off-metalcore band. The extra musicianship and more intricate songwriting make up the prog touch they have.

For something similar to THA, I can't think of anything. But for another band in general that will kick your ass, check out Arsis.

I really got into this album. For me they bring a unique sound to the table (at least in comparison to many other metal acts). I can't help but to at least partially agree with the "overuse of arpeggios" comments. It doesn't hinder the initial quality and attraction of a great album, but it did lower the replay value.

I don't think so. Yeah, there are a lot of arpeggios, but it is just their style, just like Alexi Laiho with neoclassical and Kirk Hammet with a blues flavor. They are still really good, and the work on the album is great.

I lowered my rating to a 4 solely for the fact that some of the less good tracks get a little boring after a while. The album has good balance, but the first half is better than the first.

Yeah.
I think I may have underrated the drumming. If you only pay attention to the drums when you are listening, some good action is going on. The bass is good too (if you can hear it).

Well, they are new; this is their first album. They were just one of many MySpace bands that gained popularity and got signed.
good review too

Thank you.
