Idk Keyblade I just feel like restricting prog to bands that sound like DT is anti-innovatory. I don't see how it being a genre and being defined by "pushing the sonic boundaries of metal" are somehow mutually exclusive. DT pushed boundaries, but only in one direction-towards Jazz and 70s prog rock. This just pushes the boundary in a different way.

idk...although prog/prog metal are super broad genres, they do have some characteristics that most bands share at least some of...jazz influence, shifting time signatures/tempos/keys, keyboard prominence, flashy instrumental performances...

again, isis may be "progressive" in nature, but i wouldnt call them a prog band because of how removed they are from what most people consider prog

I can distinctly remember passing on a show they did here two months before their breakup thinking "They'll be back soon!"
Then I read an interview with Gallagher where he said some weird shit that hinted towards breaking up and lo and behold a week later, bam.

Saw them in 06. Wasn't really in the moment but years later when they really grew on me properly I realized it was life changing
