because it's shoegaze with a little oomph to its name.. came about from the same era, same place, same labels.. though, yea, it's got more aggressive drive to it.. but the layering is there..

Not digging this one as much as Raise so far... There's a bit too much grunge and not enough shoegaze here for me. That said the bonus track "Never Lose That Feeling/Never Learn" is absolutely incredible, both parts of it, and may end up being one of my favorite shoegaze tracks overall.

The remaster on the 2008 re-issue is very noisy and overcompressed, just in case you're taking it as preference.

Amazing lyrics there.

Think I really underestimated this on the first couple spins because this is really working for me right now. I'm gonna have to edit the thoughts I put in my list...

Girl On a Motorbike is also wonderful.

I understand they went to (relative) shit after this album?

yea, dream pop has been a fairly safe retiring point for a lot of shoegazers, but swervedriver were never built for that.. they could never capture grace in that sedateness,.. so they ended up making fluff..

Yeah this is much better than I thought previously... Bumping to a 4. There's gorgeous guitar work all over this.

Will probably stop here and immerse myself in this for a while and not bother with their other stuff for a while if ever.

nice on the bump! i'd say that's a wise decision on stopping here, Boney.. i can give you a rundown of the salvageable tracks of their next two albums, if you fancy.. the reunion album they put out a few years back did nothing for me, though people seemed to have been digging it at the time..
