He used to be able to do higher in the early 'peth days before his voice deepened

Idk I'm no metal expert I just think he sounds fucking cool

tis my fav Opeth era. the atmosphere just feels so much more real and not as synthesized as the stuff on this and on. not that that stuff is bad, just doesn't feel quite as engrossing for me

Don't get me wrong, Rowan. I adore Opeth, so I enjoy all of their material apart from Blackwater Park - I don't get the facination with that one, two good tracks on it (albeit phenomenal) and that's it for me.

Yeah, Pleb, totally with you on that one.

Fair enough just bringing the Reveries love

Curious as to which two tracks you like on BWP? Leper, Bleak and the t/t still jam hard for me.

T/T and The Lepar Affinity. I can't stand Bleak because of the whole 'Devious movements', it drags like an extra saggy cunt, like most of the album.

*Edit - Harlequin Forest is a fucking jam.

BWP is very special to me. But if I'm being honest, Funeral Portraits and Dirge do tend to drag

Same. The atmosphere on their first 3 albums (particularly MAYH and Morningrise) is one of the main things that makes them superior to everything that came after imo.

Having said that, as everyone knows, I love Heritage. And Ghost Reveres has a lot of sentimental value for me so I still enjoy that one quite a bit.

Damnation also has dat atmosphere that I love. but there's some hard sentimentality for me with that record so maybe I like it more than I would if I had just heard it now. I prefer it over Heritage, honestly. Find the songs more memorable. Heritage has a really cool feel to it as well though.

I feel that this and BWP have their own special atmosphere (more prominent on this). But yeah, for me the first 5 are all equal to me.
